Thousands of JLKF marchers head towards LoC

Islamabad: A large number of people from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) joined the march on the LoC on Sunday to protest the abolition of Article 370 from Kashmir. The protesters tried to cross the LoC but were stopped by the authorities. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan warned no protestors not to cross the LoC. According to media reports, a large number of people were moving towards LoC.
Imran Khan on Saturday warned the people of PoK to cross the LoC and said that if any demonstrator crosses the LoC, India will present it from its perspective. Those who marched were mostly youths. All the protesters reached Garhi Dupatta on Saturday from Muzaffarabad, the capital of PoK. They stayed there all night. After this, they started marching on Muzaffarabad-Srinagar highway from Sunday morning.

The UN had asked both countries to exercise restraint.

The march was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), the local political party of PoK. A leader Rafiq Dar told the media that the U.N. military observer group had approached both India and Pakistan. Dar reported that the U.N. had requested India and Pakistan not to use the military on peaceful protesters.

Protesters stopped in Pakoti

Sources said the protesters were asked to cross the LoC. They probably reached Chakoti that the administrative officials present there stopped them. Meanwhile, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi requested US Senator Chris van Hollen to visit the region to see the ground reality of the LoC. Hollen and US Ambassador Paul Jones met Qureshi in Multan on Saturday.

Imran rallied in Muzaffarabad last month

Earlier, on 13 September, Imran held a rally in Muzaffarabad of PoK. During this time, he encouraged the crowd to cross the LoC. It was also said that the date for those who cross the LoC will be told after September 27. After this, the Indian Army had made it clear that if Pakistan had any snowfall it would have serious consequences.
